Melbourne City Guide - Discover & Experience Melbourne.
G’day!
I've lived in Melbourne Australia since April 1992 and fell in love with the City instantly. Melbourne is the Capital city in the State of Victoria, Australia. Often called the "Garden State"
due to the meticulously maintained Gardens everywhere with lush green grass, & plenty of shrubs & native trees all around.
The Floral Clock in the Queen Victoria Gardens is a clinker! The
Melbourne Weather here can be a bit tricky, so be prepared for a shower or two, sunshine & windy all in the same day.
Over the years while living in Melbourne & talking to Visitors and Melbournians, I've gathered that most of them like the
Federation Square while others admire The Arts Centre, Crown Casino, and the National Gallery of Victoria. Kids usually love the Melbourne Museum, Melbourne Aquarium, & the Melbourne Zoo. However my son & his friends really can't get enough
of the Scienceworks Museum. At this place there are numerous Science based Kids activities, a Planetarium next
door and the Lightning room adjacent to the main building which is really a hair raising experience! You can find all these Melbourne Attractions plus many more through the pages of this website.
The Shrine of Remembrance is a War Memorial for the many gallant Australians who fought & died for our
country and is a stupendous place to see. Melbourne City is a great place for Shopping. There are major Shopping Centres such as the
Chadstone Shopping Centre, Shopping Malls & Arcades like Chapel Street in South Yarra, the Royal Arcade & the Block Arcade not to forget the many Factory Outlets as well.
While some people love to relax at the Melbourne Beaches with their natural settings, others find the laid back atmosphere of the Queen Victoria Market enjoyable and an exhilarating experience.
As for me, I like the great outdoors and so I like to see places of natural scenic beauty. Some of my favourite places are the
Melbourne Beaches, Great Ocean Road (Scenic drive), Sovereign Hill (Previously a Gold Mining Town), Yarra Valley region
(Forests, Country & Wine growing area) and the Dandenong Ranges (Gardens, Trekking, Walks & BBQ facilities etc.)
Over here you will find that the Melbourne Accommodation can be categorised into Melbourne Hotels, Melbourne Motels, Backpackers, Melbourne Apartments, and Bed and Breakfast places which cater to everyone's needs & budget. The Map of Melbourne is a very handy tool as it helps
you move around the Melbourne City in an organised way. Make sure to pick a map of your destination from the Federation Square Visitors information centre which is opposite to the Flinders Street Station in the City.
If you do get a chance, please write about your experience and your favourite thing about Melbourne in the "Contact Me" section and I will publish it and dedicate a page for your contribution so that everyone can see what you think about Melbourne. It could even be a question you might want to ask about Melbourne. I would love to read about your story or to answer your question.
Finally, I hope your travel to our Magnificent Melbourne is a terrific one and also hope that you find this website useful. If there are any suggestions for improvement, they are always welcome.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to visit Melbourne City Guide.
Cheers!
Sanjay.
