Great Ocean Road
Great Ocean Road Great Ocean Road, Torquay to Warrnambool. Victoria. This road was built as a war memorial by Diggers (returned servicemen) for fellow servicemen who were killed in the First World War. The Great Ocean Road is located on the western side of Melbourne and goes all the way from Torquay to Warrnambool. There’s plenty to see & do on this trip, from scenic lookouts, whale watching to bush walking, surfing, swimming, etc. Torquay has become a Mecca for surfing enthusiast and if you happen to be one, a place not to be missed is the Surf World Museum which opens from 9am to 5pm daily. You will find the famous Bells Beach along the way which was featured in Patrick Swayze’s movie “Point Break”. Further up along the road you come to Anglesea and then Lorne which is a famous tourist destination. Here you can visit the forest areas, Erskine waterfalls, go for a swim or just relax on the beach, maybe even try catching a fish by the bay. Still further you’ll come across Apollo Bay a town where they host the Apollo Bay Music festival during March.
