Melbourne Zoo
Elliott Avenue, Parkville,
Victoria. Ph: (03) 92859300

Melbourne Zoo is located in the leafy suburb of Parkville which is a short tram or train ride away from the city. Allow yourself at least half to a full day for this as it is huge and you get to see most of Australian animals such as Kangaroos, Koalas, Echidna, Platypus, Wombat etc. Some unique Zoo experiences include - behind the scenes, roar 'n' snore, zoo twilights and animal photo experiences. There is a tropical butterfly enclosure which I found to be quite fascinating.

Opening hours: 9am to 5pm all year round. During summer, it closes at 9:30pm at night due to Zoo Twilight concerts.
