In my opinion this is the best place for kids to visit as there's so much to see and do. You can also visit the Planetarium which is inside the museum and is a once in a lifetime experience. While buying your entry ticket to the scienceworks, you can purchase a ticket for the planetarium and other interesting exhibits such as the Lightening room. Believe me, the lightening room is really a hair raising experience! If kids need to get some fresh air, there is a big playground at the rear of the premises with a café. They have live interactive demo workshop outside from time to time so check up the various timings and maximize your visit.
Opening hours: Opens daily from 10am to 4:30pm. Closed on Good Friday & Christmas Day.
Entry: Adults $14, Concessions and Children free entry. Additional charges may apply for temporary exhibitions. Special exhibits such as the Melbourne Planetarium and Lightning Room shows each incur an additional charge of $5 Adults, $4 concessions and $3.50 child (3 - 16 years).
How to get there: Take the Williamstown train and get down at the Spotswood station, walk on Hudsons road towards the Westgate bridge (follow the signs), turn right and you’re at science works. It’s a short train ride away from the CBD.
