September Events

September Events have one of the biggest sporting events in Melbourne which is the AFL Grand Final played at the MCG, the Melbourne Fringe Festival which is noted for it's Art scene and the Royal Melbourne Show which is an Agricultural show with a Carnival feel to it.

How to get there
Last week in September
AFL Grand final
AFL starts in April and culminates in September where the two best teams meet at the MCG. It can also be viewed at Federation Square Giant outdoor Screen.
Take the Epping or Hurstbridge line trains to Jolimont station and then walk down to the MCG; Tram 48 & 75 on Wellington Parade, Melbourne; or take any train to Richmond station and then walk down Brunton street to the MCG.
Late September
Melbourne Fringe Festival at inner city venues.
Runs the day after the AFL Grand final and is noted for its local arts scene everything from performance arts, visual arts to design.

Royal Melbourne Show at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds.
This is an Agricultural fair held at the Showgrounds in Flemington, with everything form Dog & cattle judging, bands, rides, etc it has a carnival feel to it and you can buy show bags and have a whole lot of fun.
Take the Flemington Showgrounds train from Flinders street; Broadmeadows train to Newmarket station and then tram 57 on racecourse road & Epsom road, Flemington.

Special Event: This year, Uplift Events will be running their 2011 Public Great Amazing Race on 17th September 2011 to raise funds for the Royal Children's Hospital. The streets of Melbourne will come alive this September as approximately 500 participants transform the city into an urban adventure race course; running, paddling, climbing, laughing, riding and sliding their way around Melbourne for a great cause!
