Shrine of Remembrance

This Shrine was built in 1800’s as a memorial to the men and women lost in the World War I & II. The building is designed in such a way that at 11:00 o’clock in the morning on the 11th of November (Eleventh month) the sun rays fall on the word “LOVE” on the inscription which reads “GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN.” Many other memorials are in & around the building. One on the western side is the Remembrance garden in honour of those who fought after World War II, a granite stone in the pool bears the words “LEST WE FORGET”.

Opening hours: : Daily from 10am to 5pm, except Christmas & Good Friday

Entry: Free, but donations are welcome.

How to get there: South bound trams 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 25, 64, 67 and 72 (except Number 1), get down at tram stop number 19.
